Thomas Quevedo says the most fulfilling part of his job is knowing how much students鈥 lives can change when they come to 天涯海角社区. He notes that the college鈥檚 close-knit community, small class sizes, on-campus employment opportunities, and great sports teams are among the many things that make St. Thomas Aquinas stand out from other colleges and universities. 鈥淭he professors are really invested in student success,鈥 he says. 鈥淎nd employment opportunities on campus and in the Career Center prepare students for interviews and expose them to the world of work,鈥 assets that can make a real difference when it comes time to graduate.
Thomas is dedicated to his role as a recruiter and enjoys meeting with high school students and their parents. To facilitate the sometimes overwhelming college application process, he reviews applications as quickly as possible and responds promptly when students have any questions. 鈥淚 think people just need someone who stays in contact,鈥 he says. Students have questions, so having people who respond quickly to emails and are focused on helping them is huge!鈥 Helping people has been a priority to Thomas who has volunteered with People to People, a social services agency that provides food and resources to families in need, for more than seven years.
Originally from Blauvelt, New York, Thomas graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Political Science and a minor in History. He says that learning to organize himself and finding a good balance while getting good grades were some of the most important takeaways from his college years. That, and meeting many people who have become lifelong friends. In his free time, Thomas enjoys golfing, watching the Mets, spending time with friends, and playing with his two yellow labs, Rosie and Mabel. One of the personal goals he鈥檚 aiming for is to visit all of the nation鈥檚 large national parks before he turns 30.
