SAMPLE CURRICULUM
Human Resource Management (GMBA 1305) is a required 3 credit course. In addition, students may pick 9 credits from the additional sample course offerings listed below.
The new and expanded role of the human resource professional. Attracting, retaining, motivating and upgrading human assets in organizations. Human manpower planning, recruitment, selection, appraisal, training, performance and reward systems, and development of wage and salary administration. Organizational design, organizational culture and quality of work life. Also understanding the impact of the political, legal, social, ethical, and technological environments on organizations. (Prerequisite: GMBA 1107 or equivalent.)
Delve into the art and science of optimizing an organization鈥檚 workforce. This course will equip students with the skills necessary to align staffing initiatives with broader organizational goals. Students will explore innovative recruitment and talent acquisition strategies, analyzing market trends to forecast and meet future staffing needs. Students also gain a comprehensive understanding of how to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of recruitment processes, ensuring the right talent is in place to drive organizational success. (Prerequisite: GMBA 1305 or equivalent.)
Design and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits packages. This course emphasizes the integration of both monetary and non-monetary rewards to create a holistic approach that goes beyond mere financial incentives. Students will explore the customization of reward programs, aligning them with employee preferences and organizational culture. Moreover, the course places significant emphasis on benchmarking compensation practices against industry standards, ensuring competitiveness and employee satisfaction. (Prerequisite: GMBA 1305 or equivalent.)
This course focuses on the methods and processes used by organizations to improve the performance and skills of their employees. It provides an overview of the theoretical frameworks and practices related to human resource development in organizations. Further, this course involves designing, delivering, and evaluating programs that enhance employee’s knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet the current and future needs of the organization. The goal of human resource development is to support the overall success of an organization by helping employees reach their full potential. (Prerequisite: GMBA 1305 or equivalent.)
Tackle the complex landscape of interactions between management and labor unions. This course navigates through the intricate legal and regulatory frameworks governing labor relations, providing students with a strategic understanding of collective bargaining and dispute resolution. Students will explore mediation techniques and strategies to effectively address disputes, fostering a positive working environment. (Prerequisites: GMBA 1108 or 1305 or their equivalents.)
